Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2023 Volkswagen Jetta is available in four trims: S, Sport, SE, and SEL. The exterior styling is modern and sleek on the VW sedan. The base trim includes 16-inch alloy wheels and LED headlights, while moving up just one trim adds 17-inch alloy wheels and a gloss-black front grille.
Engine (Power)
Regardless of the trim, the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta has the same powerful 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine. It produces 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque and sends power directly to the front wheels. The lower two trims use a six-speed manual transmission, while the upper two come with an eight-speed automatic one.
Performance
When it comes to fuel economy, the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta achieves impressive numbers, especially when you compare those numbers to other vehicles in its class. Expect to get an EPA-estimated 31 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway with the S trim, and 29 mpg in the city and 42 mpg on the highway with the other three trims. Those models with the manual transmission get 29 mpg in the city and 42 mpg on the highway.
Interior
You might be surprised at the amount of cabin space found with the 2023 Jetta. The sedan offers ample headroom and legroom, even for those riding in the rear seats. The front bucket seats are supportive, and the 60/40 split-folding rear seats give enough hip room for three adults. At 14.1 cubic feet of space, the sedan's cargo area is one of the largest in its class. Starting with the SE trim, the sedan offers a power-adjustable driver's seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated front seats. The 2023 Jetta offers Volkswagen's Digital Cockpit instrument cluster, which has a high-resolution cluster of gauges. The lower three trims have an 8-inch screen, while it expands to 10.25 inches with the top-of-the-line SEL trim. Every model has a mobile hot spot, while top models have wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as well as a wireless charging pad. It also offers Car-Net, which is a smartphone app that lets you interact with your Jetta remotely to check fuel levels, locate where you parked the vehicle, and lock/unlock it.
Safety Features
Volkswagen knows how important safety is, which is why the automaker has numerous driver-assistance features available on the 2023 Jetta. The base model comes with blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and forward-collision mitigation, but it also has an available IQ.Drive package. This package adds lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and emergency assistance.
