The first trim level in the 2023 Highlander lineup is the L, which announces its arrival with an intricately designed grille flanked by LED headlights. The LE adds LED fog lamps, heated power-adjustable mirrors, and a height-adjustable power liftgate with jam protection. On the XLE, you'll find 18-inch machined alloy wheels and a power tilt/slide moonroof featuring a sunshade, while the XSE features an aggressive mesh grille, a twin-tip exhaust, and 20-inch machine-faced black wheels. The Limited comes equipped with 20-inch chrome-finished wheels, LED projector headlights, and heated mirrors featuring puddle lights. Engine (Power)
The 2023 Highlander comes equipped with a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine capable of producing 265 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. With that much power, you can use your Highlander to tow up to 5,000 pounds. The robust engine is also efficient, thanks to features like a start-stop system that cuts the engine off when pulling up to a stop sign or red light.
Performance
Toyota pairs the Highlander engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission that optimizes output and efficiency while seamlessly shifting through gears to enable smooth acceleration and easy handling. An agile front-wheel-drive system comes standard, making it easy to maneuver through traffic, take tight corners, and merge onto busy highways. Toyota also offers an all-wheel-drive system that can adjust torque and traction to all four wheels, helping the Highlander adapt to wet roads, snow-covered surfaces, and rocky terrain. A state-of-the-art suspension makes every ride smoother and more comfortable, regardless of driving conditions.
Interior
The 2023 Highlander comes standard with seating for eight, while upper trims seat seven. No matter what trim you choose, you can take advantage of premium seating surfaces and a max cargo volume of 84.3 cubic feet. Available amenities include three-zone automatic climate control, a wireless device charger, and leather-trimmed seats with heating and ventilation. The standard infotainment system features an 8-inch touchscreen, or you can upgrade to a 12.3-inch display featuring an 11-speaker JBL audio system.
Safety Features
With the 2023 Toyota Highlander, you get a pre-collision system that can detect vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists and provide automatic emergency braking when a collision is imminent. With dynamic radar cruise control, you can select your preferred cruising speed, and the system will regulate it according to changes in traffic.
