Trim Levels (Exterior)

For 2023, the Maverick is available in XL, XLT, and Lariat trim levels, each with its own distinctive character. This truck's looks stand out, whether you're tackling the city streets or the wilderness trails. The XL offers a bold black mesh grille, LED headlights, daytime running lights, 17-inch steel wheels, and black mirrors and door handles.

The Flexbed system provides many options to customize the bed, while the multi-position tailgate enables you to carry items of various lengths. You also get six standard tie-downs, two of which double as bottle openers for your tailgate parties. The two standard 12-volt power outlets and the available 400-watt outlet enable you to power up your tools and toys.

With the XLT, you get gray grille bars, wiper-activated headlights, alloy wheels, power mirrors with blind-spot mirrors, and up to 10 cargo tie-downs. The Lariat trim adds signature lighting, silver grille bars, 18-inch wheels, and body-color mirrors and door handles. The FX4 and Tremor off-road packages offer unique rugged details.

Engine (Power)

Standard power for the Maverick is provided by a 2.5-liter fully hybrid engine that delivers 191 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission. With all models, you can opt for a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. It's paired with an eight-speed automatic, and you can choose front- or all-wheel drive.

Performance

With its compact dimensions and responsive engine options, the Maverick is easy to navigate around town and offers a refined ride out on the highway. The hybrid powertrain offers a payload of up to 1,500 pounds and a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds. You'll get up to 42 mpg in the city and 33 mpg for highway driving.

When equipped with the 2.0-liter turbo and the available trailer tow package, the Maverick can tow up to 4,000 pounds. With front-wheel drive, it will return up to 23 mpg around town and 30 mph on the highway. AWD models will give you 22 and 29 mph for city and highway driving.

Interior

Inside, the Maverick's stylish and spacious cabin offers many cleverly designed storage options, including rear under-seat storage bins. The XL features fabric seats, air conditioning, a tilt and telescoping steering column, and two 12-volt power outlets. The infotainment system has an 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a six-speaker sound system.

The XLT adds upgraded cloth upholstery and orange accents. The range-topping Lariat trim offers a 6.5-inch digital instrument display, push-button start, simulated leather seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat, dual-zone automatic temperature control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, ambient lighting, and a power-sliding rear window.
