2021 Lexus NX 300

When you are in the market for a small luxury SUV, you can't find anything better than the Lexus NX 300. This is one of the few subcompact crossovers with the capability and handling of a real SUV, and it does it all with style. For the 2021 model year, Lexus made the blind-spot monitoring system and the power-folding side mirrors standard, and they added an auto-dimming function to the mirrors.

Trim Levels (Exterior)

The NX 300 is the entry-level model. It comes with 17-inch wheels, LED headlights, roof rails, and LED fog lights. The NX 300 F Sport adds a sport-tuned suspension, 18-inch alloy wheels, a mesh grille, and the option for an adaptive suspension. If you step up to the NX 300 Luxury or the 300h Luxury, you'll get 18-inch alloy wheels, a power moonroof, and memory settings for the side exterior mirrors. There's also an NX 300h F Sport Black Line Edition with 18-inch alloy wheels and a power tilt-and-slide moonroof, or you can get the Premium Package with upgraded running lights and the 18-inch wheels.

Engine (Power)

Power for the NX 300 and the F Sport comes from a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder gas engine that delivers 235 horsepower and generates 258 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission works with the engine, and it comes standard with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available as an option no matter which model you have. The NX 300h is the hybrid version. It has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine and three electric motors for a total of 194 horsepower.

Performance

The turbo gas engine provides the NX 300 with plenty of punch that quickly gets it up to speed whether you drive around town or on the highway. Press on the accelerator, and you can expect to get to 60 mph in just seven seconds. You'll feel confident behind the wheel with its suspension that keeps it firmly planted to the ground around corners, and the steering that makes it easy to maneuver in tight spaces.

Interior

This two-row luxury crossover has room for five, and it has plush, comfortable seats in both rows. NuLuxe synthetic leather upholstery comes standard along with power-adjustable front seats. Lexus offers genuine leather as an upgrade, and you can also get heated and ventilated front seats and power-folding rear seats. The F Sport adds F Sport front seats with extra padding, a G-force display, a heated steering wheel, and paddle shifters.

An 8-inch touch screen comes standard with the option for a 10.3-inch display. Infotainment technology features such as a Wi-Fi hot spot, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and Android Auto also come standard.

This subcompact crossover is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+. Adaptive cruise control is another standard safety feature along with traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Some optional advanced safety features you can add include adaptive headlights, parking sensors in the front and back, and a surround-view parking camera system.
